asked the Minister of Labour whether he can state the total sum contributed to the Miners' Welfare Fund for Great Britain since its inauguration; and the total sums allocated in 1923 and 1924 in respect of local welfare schemes?

I have been asked to reply. The total sum contributed to the Miners' Welfare Fund, including interest on investments, amounted at the 28th February, 1925, to £3,613,953 les. 6d. The total sums allocated by the Miners' Welfare Committee in 1923 and 1974 in respect of local welfare schemes were £969,839 17s. 10d. and £977,205 17s. 2d. respectively.
