§ 76. Captain MOREINGasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that, consequent upon a landslide on the Salcombe-Kingsbridge road, the motor-omnibus serving the latter town has to descend a steep hill backwards; and what steps he will take to have the road put in a proper state of repair?
§ Colonel ASHLEYI am aware that, owing to the weakness of a retaining wall, the Salcombe Urban District Council found it necessary last January to close, temporarily, to heavy traffic, a short length of road near the Marine Hotel, forming part of an omnibus route. This temporary stoppage involves a turning and backing movement on the part of the omnibuses until such time as the council can undertake the strengthening of the retaining wall—a matter which is now under their consideration.
