HC Deb 29 June 1925 vol 185 cc1985-6
12. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India if he has any statement to make about the decisions arrived at by the Government consequent on the conference which has been taking place between the Viceroy and the Secretary of State for India?

Earl WINTERTON

The discussions between the Secretary of State and the Viceroy have naturally been confidential. The conclusions reached, if affirmed by the Cabinet, will be fully stated by my Noble Friend in another place. The House will have an opportunity of debating them when the India Office Vote is taken.

Mr. THURTLE

Is the Noble Lord in a position to deny the accuracy of the forecast recently published in the "Statesman" newspaper, of Calcutta?

Earl WINTERTON

I cannot add anything to my answer. In due course an announcement will be made as to the result of these conversations.
