HC Deb 29 June 1925 vol 185 c1998
50. Mr. HARDIE

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the pressure of business before the House, he will arrange that the House meet on alternate days, giving the other days for uninterrupted Committee work upstairs and allowing all Members of the House to be present at Debates in the House?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

I do not think that the hon. Member's proposal is practicable, or would meet the purpose which he has in view.

Mr. HARDIE

Is the right hon. Gentleman not aware that outside this House the electorate are beginning to feel that a House which cannot organise its own business cannot organise an Empire?
