HC Deb 29 June 1925 vol 185 cc1999-2000
43. Mr. JOHNSTON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that British Government representatives objected to the projected railway development in the provinces of Hunan and Hupeh on the ground that British nationals held preferential con cessions from the late Viceroy, Chang Chih Tung, and if he can state the nature of these concessions and the considerations for which they were given?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I am unable to trace the incident to which the hon. Mem- ber refers, but if he will give me the date and any other particulars in his possession, I will look into the matter.
