HC Deb 29 June 1925 vol 185 c2010
49. Mr. DIXEY

asked the Prime Minister, whether, in view of the danger to the Empire caused by the present state of trade in this country, he will consider the culling together of representatives of the Dominions to see if Empire schemes can be formulated with the object of developing the resources of the Dominions and finding work for our unemployed population?

The PRIME MINISTER

His Majesty's Government are engaged in furthering to the best of their ability inter-Imperial co-operation for the development of Empire resources and increased mutual employment on the lines agreed upon at the Imperial Economic Conference of 1923. I doubt whether at this stage the summoning of another Imperial Conference would materially advance the objects which we are all equally concerned to promote.

Captain BRASS

Is it not a fact that the unemployment problem cannot be solved until the population in this country is decreased?
