HC Deb 29 June 1925 vol 185 cc1987-8
14. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that prisoners in Berhampore Gaol are on hunger-strike as a protest against the Government of India's refusal of their request for articles necessary for daily worship; and whether he will see that the policy of non-interference with religious customs is extended to prisons?

Earl WINTERTON

I have not received any Report on this matter, but would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for North Lambeth on the 18th June.
