Mr. BROMLEYasked the President of the Board of Trade what is the total amount received by the Furness Railway Company and the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company from the light duties levied on ships loading and unloading in Barrow-in-Furness Harbour since 1894; whether the Board of Trade has at any time reduced the amount of such dues since 1897; and if he will consider their reduction in the interests of the port of Barrow?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERI am informed by the Commissioners of the Port of Lancaster that the total amount paid to the railway company during the last 31 years is £17,593 12s. 2d. The dues 1272 have not been reduced since the passing of the Act, and the question of reducing them is now being considered.
