§ 85. Mr. HARRISasked the Minister of Labour whether his list of firms engaged in artificial silk winding, bleaching, and dyeing includes all firms who do this work, or whether it is confined to those exclusively or primarily engaged on it?
§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY of the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. Betterton)I am obliged to the hon. 43 Member for giving me the opportunity to explain this point. The list referred to is confined to factories and workshops appearing on the Home Office Register as being concerned exclusively or primarily with the manufacture or treatment of artificial silk. There is, no doubt, a number of other firms which undertake the winding, bleaching, or dyeing, of artificial silk, but are not exclusively or primarily engaged in dealing with this material.
