HC Deb 27 July 1925 vol 187 cc19-20
28. Sir HENRY CRAIK

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, if he can give particulars as to the ownership of the buildings now standing between the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey; and how many of these houses are in private ownership?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

The houses referred to are 18 to 29, Abingdon Street, and 5, 6, and 7, Old Palace Yard—that is to say, 15 houses. Five of these houses (5, 6, and 7, Old Palace Yard, and 28 and 29, Abingdon Street) are Crown property, and are in official occupation. The Ecclesiastical Commissioners are the owners of the freeholds of six houses (18 to 23, Abingdon Street). The remaining four houses (24 to 27, Abingdon Street) are in private ownership.

Sir H. CRAIK

Then only four of the houses are in private ownership?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

That is so.
