HC Deb 23 July 1925 vol 186 cc2392-3
48. Mr. T. KENNEDY

asked the Minister of Health whether replies have now been received from the two local authorities in the Isle of Wight against whom complaints were made by justices of the peace of failure to exercise their powers under the enactments relating to housing; if so, what those replies are: and, if not, whether he will now order public inquiries to be held with a view to making orders against those authorities under Section 23 of the Housing Act, 1925?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

One of the authorities has asked for further information which the complainants have been requested to furnish. The other authority has not yet replied, but as I stated a few days ago, I am pressing them to do so. I do not think it necessary at present to direct a public local inquiry.
