asked the First Lord of the Admiralty, with refer- ence to the 12 naval establishments outside the United Kingdom at which only 600 odd workers are appointed from home and 13,000 are engaged locally, whether he has now examined into the possibility of increasing, wherever practicable, the number of jobs that can be given to those men appointed from home in the special circumstances of the present unemployment situation?

As the suggestion of the. hon. Member would add to the cost of the dockyard services overseas without increasing their efficiency, I regret that I am unable to adopt it.
