HC Deb 22 July 1925 vol 186 cc2197-8
49. Mr. HARRIS

asked the Prime Minister whether he can now make a statement as to the Government's proposals for dealing with electricity?

The PRIME MINISTER

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave on the 15th June in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Cardigan. I am not yet in a position to make any statement.

Mr. HARRIS

Is the Prime Minister aware that the Minister of Transport stated in this House that the Report was laid before the Government over two months ago, and that early lesgislation was contemplated, and is not two months a reasonable time, when the Government have the assistance of Commissioners, who are paid £40,000, to enable the Government to make up their mind on an important matter of this kind?

The PRIME MINISTER

Any Report on a matter of this importance must be the subject of detailed examination. I hope to be in a position to make a statement before the House rises, though I do not pledge myself.
