HC Deb 20 July 1925 vol 186 c1821
35. Mr. T. KENNEDY

asked the Minister of Pensions the number of widows' pensions at the flat rate of 5s., and the number of dependency and need pensions, respectively, in payment at the present time?

Lieut.-Colonel STANLEY

There is no rate of pension for widows of ex-service men under the Royal Warrants at the flat rate of 5s. The number of pensions to dependent parents (whether mother or father or both) is approximately 331,000. Of these 192,000 are pensions based on pre-War dependence, 101,500 are at the flat rate of 5s., and 37,500 are pensions based on need and incapacity of a parent or parents. I regret to say that it is not possible to state the number of widows included in these figures as distinct from married couples or widowers.
