HC Deb 16 July 1925 vol 186 cc1520-1
22. Mr. WHITELEY

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the Sedgefield Board of Guardians are holding their meetings on licensed premises, although protests have been made on account of there being other accomodation; and, seeing that it is contrary to Section 61 of the Local Government Act, 1894, what steps does he intend to take in the matter.

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have been informed that the meetings of a committee of this board of guardians have been held on licensed premises. There may be some doubt whether this action is contrary to the enactment cited, which applies to meetings of the board of guardians itself, but the arrangement is certainly an undesirable one, and I am so informing the guardians.
