HC Deb 15 July 1925 vol 186 c1290
14. Mr. BUCHANAN for

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, whether he has submitted proposals on behalf of the Government to the Government of Franco for common action against Communists; and, if so, whether he will place the proposals before the House?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. His Majesty's Government have not initiated nor been invited to participate in any common action against Communists.

Mr. RILEY

Has the right hon. Gentleman had any correspondence with the French Government with regard to this?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, I have not. I really do not know what gave rise to these rumours. I think I know what gave rise to the question, but what gave rise to the rumours I do not know.

Mr. STEPHEN

Is it not possible that it was some of the statements of speakers of the Conservative party in the Forest of Dean?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have even seen inaccuracies in the Labour Press.
