HC Deb 13 July 1925 vol 186 cc849-50
25. Mr. BUCHANAN for

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been drawn to an outbreak of foot-find-mouth disease at Ottringham, Yorkshire; whether he can state the number of cattle effected and the number slaughtered; and whether ho is able to form any opinion as to the possible cause of the outbreak?

Mr. WOOD

The reply to the first part is in the affirmative. Six cattle contracted the disease, and in all, nine cattle and seven pigs were slaughtered in connection with the outbreak. The origin of the infection is at present obscure, but inquiries are not yet completed.
