HC Deb 13 July 1925 vol 186 c852
17. Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the number of Chinese persons killed and wounded by the recent machine-gun fire in Canton: and the number of foreigners of each nationality, respectively, killed and wounded during the course of that demonstration?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The numbers of Chinese casualties are not accurately known: they have been reported to be about 30 killed and 70 wounded, but may have been more. The foreign casualties, as far as known to me, were: Killed, 1 French; wounded, 4 British and 1 French.
