HC Deb 09 July 1925 vol 186 cc579-80
5. Mr. ROBINSON

asked the Minister of Pensions whether, with a view to removing apprehension among pensioners that their pension rates may at some future period be reduced, he will consider the introduction of an amending warrant stabilising pensions at the present rates?

8. Mr. DALTON

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will introduce a new warrant repealing Clause 24a of the Royal Warrant, which provides for a revision of the pensions rates, so that all pensioners may know for certain that no reduction will be made in the present rates of war pensions; and, if not, up to what date is he now prepared to give a pledge that the present rates will be maintained?

3. Mr. CLUSE

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he has under consideration the question of reducing the rates of War pensions on the 1st of April, 1927; and, if not, whether he. will introduce an Amending Warrant deleting Clause 24a from the Royal Warrant of 6th December, 1919?

Major TRYON

The general question of stabilisation is being carefully considered by the Government, and the result will be announced in due course.

Mr. DALTON

May I have an answer to the second part of Question 8? Up to what date is the Minister now prepared to give a pledge that the present rates will be maintained?

Major TRYON

We announced last June a decision which will not normally be made until next January. The reply I have given is in complete accord with the reply given by the late Government, and I cannot give details of a proposal before it has been formulated.
