HC Deb 06 July 1925 vol 186 c22
39. Sir F. WISE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if he will, in considering the forthcoming expiration and possible renewal of the Anglo-Portuguese Commercial Treaty, remember the necessity of the position of British goods imported into Portugal, and especially goods from the steel manufacturing towns?

Mr. SAMUEL

The Anglo-Portuguese Commercial Treaty is binding on the parties until 23rd September, 1926, and only ceases to operate after that date if either contracting party gives notice of intention to terminate it. In the event of occasion arising, I will certainly bear in mind my hon. Friend's suggestion about steel goods for Portugal.
