§ 55. Mr. R. DAVIESasked the Minister of Labour what progress has been made with the inquiry into wages and conditions in the grocery trade; when he expects the inquiry to be completed; and how soon publication of the results of this inquiry may be expected?
§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDI anticipate that the Report of the Inquiry mentioned in the question will be in my hands within the next two months. I hope, therefore, to be in a position to make public the broad results in the early autumn.
§ Mr. A. V. ALEXANDERWill the inquiry be confined to ordinary small employers in the grocery trade, or have any communications been sent to cooperative societies?
§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDI think all parts of the grocery trade are being communicated with, but if the hon. Member will put a question down as to that, I will make inquiries and let him know.
