asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the number of staff employed by the Food Council; and what is the approximate annual cost incurred in its maintenance?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Sir Burton Chadwick)

The staff employed by the Food Council has varied in size from time to time in accordance with fluctuations in the volume of the work. It now consists of seven persons, of whom one devotes only one-half of his time to Food Council matters. The total cost in salaries and wages at the present time is at the rate of approximately £2,650 per annum.
