HC Deb 18 December 1925 vol 189 cc1837-8

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That this House do now adjourn."— [Commander Eyres Monsell.]

Sir GODFREY COLLINS

Can the Prime Minister tell us what business will be taken on Monday?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

We propose to take the Lords Amendments to various Bills, and the discussion, as desired by the Opposition, on the Geneva Award of the League of Nations in relation to Mosul. I hope, however, to make a statement on business later in the day.

Mr. BUCHANAN

Might I ask the Prime Minister if time will be found before the House adjourns for the Motion standing in the name of my hon. Friend the Member for Kirkcaldy (Mr. Kennedy) — ("That a Select Committee of this House should be appointed without delay to inquire into the general administration and practice of the Ministry of Pensions with special reference to the questions of final and erroneous awards, parents', dependants', and widows' pensions, the regulations governing the appointment and powers of area war pensions committees, advisory councils, regional officers, and the special grants committee, the seven years' limit for claims in, respect of pensions for death or disability due to war service, and the advisability of appointing an independent court of medical appeal for the hearing of appeals against decisions of the entitlement and assessment appeals tribunals."]

The PRIME MINISTER

I am afraid there will not be the opportunity now.

Mr. BUCHANAN

Does the right hon. Gentleman consider that the questions relating to Iraq come in importance before questions of war pensions to many people in this country?

The PRIME MINISTER

There are a great many questions which hon. Members are anxious to raise.
