WILLIAMSasked the Minister of Labour whether the change in the method of compilation of unemployment statistics which is being made in some districts, namely, the separation of the totally unemployed from those on short time or temporarily stood off, is being put into operation generally; and whether in future the weekly statistics of persons on the live register will show separately the number totally unemployed and the number temporarily unemployed?
§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDI am considering whether arrangements can be made to analyse the weekly unemployment statistics in the manner suggested; but I cannot yet say with certainty whether this will be practicable.
