HC Deb 16 December 1925 vol 189 cc1521-2

As amended (in the Standing Committee), considered; read the Third time, and passed.

WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION BILL[Lords].

Order for Second Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a Second time,."

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Commander Eyres Monsell)

This is a purely Consolidating Bill and has only just come down, with a certificate stating that the Bill is a Consolidating Bill. In view of the fact that these Consolidation Bills are for the general convenience of the House, I hope we shall be allowed to pass it.

Mr. CLYNES

I understood that Government business was to be limited to matters which have now been disposed of, but I have no objection to the Committee stage of this Bill going through.

Resolved, That this House will immediately resolve itself into the Committee on the Bill. — [Commander Eyres Monsell] Bill accordingly considered in Committee, and reported, without Amendment.

Bill to be read the Third time To-morrow.
