asked the President of the Board of Trade if any steps have been taken to give effect to the recommendations contained in the Report, dated 10th April, 1024, of the informal committee on coal-carrying vessels, set up by the Board of Trade, and also of those contained in the second Report of this committee, which was issued on 15th May of the present year?

The recommendations contained in the First Report of the informal committee on coal-carrying vessels were given effect to in instructions issued in January, 1925 (Circular 1651). The- Second Report was referred to the Classification Societies, as they were interested in the matter, and, on receipt of their replies, instructions were drafted and placed before the Merchant Shipping Advisory Committee. The Report of this Committee has now been received and is being considered by the Board of Trade.
