HC Deb 07 December 1925 vol 189 c34
52. Captain GARRO-JONES

asked the Prime Minister if he has received any assurance from Lord Birkenhead as to when he will be in a position to fulfil his undertaking to discontinue his contributions to the Press?

The PRIME MINISTER

My Noble-Friend has ceased to write articles. As I stated in my last answer on this subject, he had already parted with the ownership of a very limited number of articles and over these, therefore, had no control. I am told that only one remains—a paper which the hon. and gallant Gentleman may care to glance at upon the subject of Eloquence.

Mr. HANNON

Did not members of the Coalition Cabinet of the Liberal persuasion write newspaper articles?

Commander LOCKER-LAMPSON

Did not Mr. Gladstone write articles?

Mr. LAWSON

Why were we not informed of this fact last year?
