HC Deb 07 December 1925 vol 189 cc14-5
22. Captain W. SHAW

asked the Minister of Agriculture what percentage of barley produced in this country is used for any other purpose than for the making of beer?

Mr. GUINNESS

No statistics are available of the quantities of home-produced barley used for different purposes, but, as a rough approximation, it is estimated that on the average probably about 50 to 55 per cent. is used for purposes other than the making of beer. The proportion will vary according to the season.
