asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether there is any increase in the number of men employed in Customs work since March last; and whether any men have been lent for this work by other Departments; and, if so, how many?

As regards the first part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the replies given on this subject to the hon. and gallant Member for Central Hull on the 23rd July last and the 24th November. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
