HC Deb 02 December 1925 vol 188 cc2215-6
45. Mr. SHORT

asked the Prime Minister whether the Civil Research Committee have received representations from the workpeople and manufacturers in the iron and steel industry; and can. he say when the Report of the Committee will be issued?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

The Committee of Civil Research have consulted the organisations representing both the employers and the men engaged in the iron and steel industry as regards the latter part of the question, it would be contrary to established practice to publish any Report of a Cabinet Committee.

Mr. A. V. ALEXANDER

Can the Prime Minister yet say whether it is contemplated holding an ordinary inquiry under the Safeguarding of Industries?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot say yet.

Mr. SHORT

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when he is likely to arrive at a decision on this matter?

The PRIME MINISTER

I hope before we rise.
