§ 27. Sir ROBERT SANDERSasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that, on the application of the overseers of the borough of Taunton, all Government property in that borough has been struck out of the county rate valuation, thus reducing Taunton's assessable value for county rate purposes by about £1,400; and whether, in paying to the borough the sum due in lieu of rates, the Government will stipulate, as it already does in the case of agricultural land, that the portion paid in respect of county rate be handed over to the county?
Mr. GUINNESSI was not aware of the facts stated in the first part of the question, but I am having inquiry made and will communicate with the right hon. Member.
