HC Deb 30 April 1925 vol 183 cc312-3
17. Colonel APPLIN

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been drawn to the sale of game and other wild birds during the breeding season in our shops; and whether, in view of the cruelty this practice must cause, even in the case of birds from foreign countries, and the waste of valuable bird-life, he will introduce legislation to prevent the continuation of this practice?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

Yes, Sir; my attention has been called to this matter, and the Home Office Advisory Committee have had it under consideration, and would, I understand, be in favour of some further measure of protection being adopted in the direction suggested. The Bill for the amendment and consolidation of the Wild Birds Protection Acts, which I introduced before the Recess, will afford my hon. and gallant Friend an opportunity of raising the question.
