HC Deb 30 April 1925 vol 183 c317
46. Mr. FORREST

asked the Prime Minister, in view of the fact that the Central Board to be established under the last Anti-Opium Conference at Geneva is not likely to come into operation for some time, whether the Advisory Committee on Opium Traffic is still in existence; whether it will hold its annual meeting this year, and, if so, when; and what is to be the policy of the British Government in respect of it?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT(Mr.G.Locker-Lampson)

I have been asked to reply. The Advisory Committee, whose function is to assist and advise the Council of the League in dealing with any question that may arise in connection with the League's supervision of the drug traffic and to promote the fullest possible international co-operation in regard to the matter, is still in existence and will, so far as I am aware, continue to exist. I understand a meeting of the Committee will be held as usual this year, some time before the meeting of the Assembly in September, but the Government has not yet been informed of the date. I am not in a position to make any statement of policy, as the agenda for the meeting has not yet been settled.
