§ 13. Major-General Sir ALFRED KNOXasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in the general interests of the foreign community in China, he will cause representations to be made to the Chinese Government to speed up the trial or procure the release of the Russian railway officials, Ostroumoff and Gondatti, who, on the taking over of the Chinese Eastern Railway by a joint board of Soviet and Chinese officials on the 3rd October, 1924, were thrown into prison at Harbin, and have since been detained there in spite of the general amnesty proclaimed by the Chinese Government by decree on the 1st January last?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI am asking for a report upon this case, before deciding whether action is possible or desirable in the matter.
