HC Deb 08 April 1925 vol 182 c2217
63. Mr. HANNON

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can state the number of unemployed men who have been precluded from drawing unemployment benefit owing to the decision of local committees that they are normally unemployable; and whether there are any ex-service men in this category?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

The number of applications for extended benefit which have been recommended for rejection by local employment committees in Great Britain from 1st August, 1924, to 9th March, 19'25, on the ground that insurable employment is not likely to be available is 10,520. I regret that I am unable to state how many of these rejections were in respect of applications by ex-service men.
