§ 93. Mr. HAYESasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that applicants for widows' pensions under Article 17 are informed that for the application to be successful the husband's death must be certified as materially hastened by the lingering effects of War service; how many applications have been made by widows for pensions under Article 17 since the 1st November, 1924; and the number that have been awarded pensions?
The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of PENSIONS (Lieut.-Colonel Stanley)The hon. Member is misinformed. It is not the practice of the Ministry to notify applicants in the terms suggested. Since 1st November, 1924, 378 awards of pension under Article 17 have been made, and 277 claims have been rejected.
