§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREThe total amount of sugar produced in the British self-governing Dominions and in the Colonies during the year 1923, which is the last year for which complete figures are available, is approximately 968,000 tons. The quantity of sugar of Empire origin imported during the year ended 31st December, 1923, into the United Kingdom (from the 1st April of that year, Great Britain and Northern Ireland) was 690,664 cwts. refined, and 7,534,560 cwts. unrefined.
