§ 33. Mr. HUGHESasked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the disadvantages arising from the general use of white flour and the condemnation passed upon it by the Medical Research Council, he is prepared to take any steps to ensure the utilisation of the whole wheat grain in the manufacture of the nation's bread?
§ Mr. WHEATLEYI understand from the Medical Research Council that they have not passed any condemnation on the general use of white flour, and I am advised that under the conditions prevailing in this country it would be not only unnecessary from a public health point of view but also impracticable to insist on the utilisation of the whole wheat grain in the manufacture of bread.
