HC Deb 02 October 1924 vol 177 c318
58. Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of the Government to introduce legislation during the Autumn Session to bring the rents of pre-War houses to pre-War level?

Mr. CLYNES

The whole question of rent restriction is receiving the consideration of the Government as an urgent matter.

Mr. KIRKWOOD

I would like to ask the right hon. Gentleman if in their consideration they will base it on the 1914 rents for 1914 houses as implied in the question?

Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

Will the right hon. Gentleman also try to introduce legislation to bring the cost of repairs back to what they were in 1914?

Mr. CLYNES

That is a subject which could not be considered without the matter covered by both those questions being fully dealt with.
