§ Mr. WHEATLEYDuring the 12 months ended 31st March last 14,371 houses were completed by local authorities and 4,293 by private enterprise with State assistance. In addition, approximately 66,000 houses of a larger type and of a rateable value not exceeding £52 in the provinces and £70 in the Metropolitan Police District were erected by private enterprise.
