asked the Minister of Agriculture what course is adopted regard to valuations of stock which are slaughtered under the Diseases of Animals Act. 1894; are special instructions given to valuers and arbitrators as to the basis on which the valuation is to be made; and, if so, on what authority are those instructions given?

Mr. BUXTON

In all cases where animals are being compulsorily slaughtered in accordance with Section 15 of the Diseases of Anmals Act, 1894, the instructions given to the valuer, and, if necessary, to an arbitrator, are to settle the amount of compensation payable in accordance with the provisions of Subsection (2) (i) and (ii) of that Section. The authority for these instructions is the Section referred to.
