§ 58. Mr. J. HARRISasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it is the intention of the Treasury to reduce the working hours of temporary civil servants now employed; if so, what is the object of this reduction in working hours; will it involve reductions in the salaries of the officers; and upon what ratio for grades 1, 2 and 3?
Mr. GRAHAMI would refer the hon. Member to the replies given on the 9th April and the 19th May to the hon. Member for Rotherhithe and the hon. Member for Islington, South, respectively. The object of the reduction is to obviate, so far as possible, the discharge of staff in present circumstances.
