HC Deb 13 May 1924 vol 173 c1131
25. Mr. BOWERMAN

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the arbitration proceedings in connection with the purchase of the Deptford Cattle Market area have been concluded; and, if so, will he state the terms of settlement and the purpose for which the land and buildings have been purchased by the Army Council?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Stephen Walsh)

With regard to the first two parts, the question of arbitration will not arise unless and until the corporation and the War Department fail to agree to the purchase price. The Department has not yet heard what price the Corporation propose to ask. As regards the last part, the premises are to be acquired for the receipt, storage and issue in peace and war of supplies of food and forage, and of medical and other consumable stores.
