Mr. BLACKasked the President of the Board of Education whether, seeing that the present scale of increments in teachers' salaries, which enables the maximum to be reached in 12 years, has worked to the detriment of the teachers in causing unemployment among those entitled to receive the higher salaries, he will convey the facts to the Burnham Committee for consideration in framing the new scale?
§ Mr. TREVELYANThe Committees, which represent both teachers and local education authorities, have direct knowledge of the facts relevant to their deliberations, and I have no doubt are well aware of the point to which the hon. Member calls attention.
