§ 38. Mr. HANNONasked the Home Secretary whether the three men about whom Scotland Yard recently issued a warning, and who escaped from a prison in the United States and are now in this country, were furnished with passports made out in the names now published in the Press; whether visas to enter this country were given by one of His Majesty's Consular officers in the United States; and what was the date on which Scotland Yard received the information from the United States authorities that these men were dangerous criminals?
Mr. HENDERSONThe statement published in the Press about a week ago that these men are known to have reached this country is without foundation. The second part of the question accordingly does not arise. The notice circulated by the New York police as to the escape of the men from prison reached Scotland Yard on 12th February. It was shown to certain Press representatives who called to inquire, but no warning was issued by the police.
