§ 11. Mr. HARDIEasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether Rear-Admiral H. F. P. Sinclair, C.B., is in receipt of any salary from public funds apart from naval half-pay; if so, for what services does he draw this money; and why is he shown as unemployed upon the Navy List while appearing on the active list?
§ Mr. AMMONThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative and the second part docs not therefore arise. With regard to the last part of the question, I think my hon. Friend must be under some misapprehension, since the fact of an officer being on the Active List does not prevent him from being on half-pay.
§ Mr. HARDIEMay I have the assurance of the hon. Gentleman that such services will not be used in Indus- 2304 trial areas where there is industrial unrest in the form of agents-provocateur, or any other provocation?
§ Mr. SPEAKERThe hon. Member is putting an insinuation in the form of a supplementary question, and that cannot be allowed.
§ Mr. HARDIEThen what are the services rendered for the salary stated? Surely the House has a right to know that.
§ Mr. SPEAKERIf the hon. Member puts his question in that form, it will be right.
