HC Deb 10 March 1924 vol 170 cc1894-5
20. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it is intended to lay before Parliament the Report of Mr. Clive, the British Consul-General at Munich, on his recent visit to the Palatinate; and whether it is intended to appoint a British Consul or Vice-Consul to reside permanently at Speyer, in the Palatinate?

The PRIME MINISTER

As regards the first part of the question, I have nothing to add to the reply which I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Chichester (Lieut.-Colonel Rudkin) on the 25th February. The reply to the second part of the question is in the negative.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

With reference to the appointment of a Consul, does that mean that the whole matter is closed officially, without having any Consul or Vice-Consul at all?

The PRIME MINISTER

The question is "whether it is intended to appoint a British Consul or Vice-Consul to reside permanently at Speyer, in the Palatinate?" and I say "No."
