HC Deb 07 March 1924 vol 170 cc1785-6
5. Mr. CECIL WILSON

asked the Prime Minister whether any inquiry has been made by, or report received by, the Government as to the conversion of plant and machinery at the Krupp works at Essen from purposes connected with the manufacture of armaments to other purposes; and, if not, whether inquiries can be made in regard to the whole matter?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Major Attlee)

I have been asked to reply. The answer is in the affirmative. The War Office is in possession of detailed information on this subject, and a special committee of the Inter-Allied Military Commission of Control in Germany has been living in the works in question for four years. Nearly all the special apparatus for the production of war material has been destroyed, and replaced by machinery for the production of peace products.
