(by Private Notice) asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in view of the Debate to morrow, he will state for the information of the House the intention of the Government on the subject of the reduction of the German Reparation Levy; whether a Treasury Minute issued to-day states that the reduction will take effect until further notice, whereas the announcement in the "Board of Trade Journal" of 28th February and the reply on 4th March to the hon. Member for Barrow fixed 15th April, 1924, as the date limiting the operation of the reduction specified; and whether the difference indicates any change of policy?

There is no difference intended between the two statements The present arrangement will remain in force until 15th April, and will then have to be considered in the light of the circumstances prevailing.
