HC Deb 05 March 1924 vol 170 cc1366-7
35. Brigadier-General SPEARS

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has considered the scheme for dealing with unemployment put forward by the British Legion; and whether he will consider accepting the recommendations of the British Legion and their inclusion in the Government scheme for dealing with unemployment?

Mr. SHAW

I have met representatives of the National Executive Council of the British Legion and discussed their proposals for dealing with unemployment. I explained the lines upon which the Government are dealing with this problem, and assured them that every proposal which appeared to have a practicable chance of improving the position was being considered.
